2024 Volvo S60 Review: Prices, Specs, and Photos

What kind of vehicle is the 2024 Volvo S60? What does it compare to?

Volvo’s 60-Series cars come in sedan and wagon form. These models square off well against the Audi A4, though the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class offer formidable competition.

Is the 2024 Volvo S60 a good car?

Overshadowed figuratively and literally by the company’s XC60 SUV, the S60 sedan and V60 wagon remain terrific choices. They’re a 7.3 on the TCC scale thanks to a serene demeanor, stunning design, and competent road manners. (Read more about how we rate cars.)

What’s new for the 2024 Volvo S60?

Not much. All models trade some chrome bits for dark trim, but otherwise the S60 sedan and V60 wagon models see no major tweaks.

Both models wear clean, slick styling, with limited adornments. They look best (but ride the worst, natch) with the biggest wheel options. Inside, look for a clean, simple design with a vertical touchscreen—one of the few such orientations that truly looks integrated into the dash.

Most models use a 247-hp 2.0-liter turbo-4 teamed with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, which delivers fuel economy as impressive as 30 mpg combined. No S60 is especially sporty, but models at the bottom of the range have a plush ride and competent handling. The V60 Cross Country’s off-roady looks deliver only a hint of four-wheeling ability. They’re best for deep snow, but that’s about it.

Recharge models are available in just a handful of configurations. They deliver north of 40 miles of electric range on a full charge, and with 455 hp on tap, they’re downright rapid. They’re never quite as sporty as BMW M and Mercedes-Benz AMG models, but there’s an undeniable under-the-radar appeal.

All models have terrific seats, but don’t look for excessive interior space. V60 models have bigger cargo areas, though even they suffer from a low roof that limits hauling in the name of slippery styling.

These Volvos have a spectacular safety record. A widely available Pilot Assist system allows for short stints of hands-off driving and does a great job of centering these cars in their lane while underway.

How much does the 2024 Volvo S60 cost?

At $43,645, the base S60 sedan in Core trim delivers a decent array of features, though the $3,000 upcharge for the Plus trim buys Pilot Assist. If we were spending your money, we’d opt for the divine V60 Cross Country at $51,695 in Plus guise.

Where is the 2024 Volvo S60 made?

In South Carolina.
