What kind of vehicle is the 2024 Toyota Sienna? What does it compare to?
The 2024 Toyota Sienna is a family-friendly minivan that seats seven or eight passengers, complete with a standard hybrid powertrain and power-sliding side doors. It shares the space with the Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Pacifica, and Kia Carnival.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Generally, yes, with good fuel efficiency and standard features. It would be better if not for some safety concerns and practicality quirks. The 2024 Sienna earns a TCC Rating of 6.7 out of 10. (Read more about how we rate cars.)
What’s new for the 2024 Toyota Sienna?
This year, Toyota makes minor tweaks to the Sienna’s feature and trim menu. A new XSE Premium package equips the mid-tier trim with leather upholstery, orange accent stitching, heated and cooled front seats, a driver’s seat with memory settings and 8-way power adjustability, a 7.0-inch digital information display, blind-spot monitors, and exterior auxiliary lighting. Base LE and XLE trims get tinted headlight housings, and some XSE models get dark-finished wheels.
Otherwise, LE, XLE, XLE Woodland, XSE, Limited, and Platinum trims carry over unchanged. All-wheel drive is available across the lineup, though front-wheel drive comes standard.
The Sienna isn’t conventionally handsome, for a minivan or otherwise, thanks to some heavy-handed details. Inside, the horizontal dash and tall center console make it feel cozier than it is, for better or for worse, and even in expensive Platinum trim, some materials and finishes fall short of rivals.
Every Sienna features a 2.5-liter inline-4 with a pair of electric motors and battery packs for a combined 245 hp, and a third electric motor drives the rear axle in all-wheel-drive models. A CVT does its job well, if not great. It’s the handling and ride that impress, with well-damped tuning and fast responses. Consider, too, the EPA’s 36-mpg combined rating for front-drive models, which falls short of only the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid plug-in.
Interior space is on par with other minivans on paper, though most rivals make better use of it. The second row offers the typical pair of captain’s chairs or a row of three seats that isn’t nearly as spacious as an actual bench, while the third row is less spacious than most competitors and also more challenging to fold away for extra storage.
The Sienna boasts an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating, but the NHTSA’s five-star overall rating comes with caveats. The list of standard safety features is on par with the competition.
How much does the 2024 Toyota Sienna cost?
The Sienna LE starts at $38,580 and includes a 9.0-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration; all-wheel drive is $2,000 more. A handful more trim levels pad the lineup, topping out with the Platinum all-wheel-drive model for $54,800, which includes JBL audio and leather upholstery. It’s worth noting that only the base LE and XLE FWD models can be configured for eight passengers.
Where is the 2024 Toyota Sienna made?
In Indiana.
