2024 Cadillac XT4 Review: Prices, Specs, and Photos

A refined personality and sleek exterior styling elevate the Cadillac XT4.

What kind of vehicle is the 2024 Cadillac XT4? What does it compare to?

The 2024 XT4 is a compact luxury SUV. Shop it against the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

Is the 2024 Cadillac XT4 a good car/SUV?

A solid overall choice, the 2024 XT4 benefits from slick styling, an approachable infotainment system, and decent pricing so long as you don’t stray far into the options list. We rate it at 6.2 out of 10 on the TCC scale. (Read more abouthow we rate cars.)

What’s new for the 2024 Cadillac XT4?

For 2024, the XT4 gains revised front and rear styling plus a huge 33-inch LED screen inside that’s about as sharp as it gets regardless of price point.

Small outside but packing plenty of styling punch, the 2024 XT4 is a good-looking SUV that stacks up well against mostly German rivals. Its interior doesn’t thrill, but it’s par for the small luxury SUV class.

A 235-hp turbo-4 delivers power forward or to all four corners, and it works well enough with the 9-speed automatic transmission. That’s a lot of power for a small SUV, but the XT4 is on the heavy side. It’s not especially rapid, but it rides well—-especially with the optional (if somewhat too expensive) adaptive dampers. No version is sporty or particularly fun, though. At 25 mpg combined, the XT4 is among the least efficient choices in its segment.

Inside, look for a functional design with an 8.0-inch touchscreen and nice materials. Limited rear-seat leg room is a downside, however.

Standard crash-avoidance tech can be augmented by the predicted array of adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitors as you work your way up the options list.

How much does the 2024 Cadillac XT4 cost?

The XT4 Luxury starts from about $39,000, which crests $41,500 with optional all-wheel drive. That base price buys synthetic leather and power-adjustable front seats, with real hides and heating on the options list. Even with a few extra features, you can keep an XT4 Sport to less than $50,000.

Where is the 2024 Cadillac XT4 made?

In Kansas City, Kansas.

The Cadillac XT4 has a comfy ride and good performance, but its all-wheel-drive system can be annoying.

Cadillac slides smooth turbo-4 power under the XT4’s hood, and its suspension comes in a comfortable state of tune. However, the optional all-wheel-drive system has a two-wheel-drive mode that some buyers might forget about until they’ve dug themselves into a snow bank. It’s a 6 for performance.

Is the Cadillac XT4 4WD?

It can be, but you might want to set a calendar reminder to keep the all-wheel-drive system in all-wheel-drive mode after Labor Day. The standard front-drive mode allegedly saves some fuel—at the expense of convenience compared to rivals.

How fast is the Cadillac XT4?

With 235 hp on tap from the 2.0-liter turbo-4, the XT4 responds fairly quickly to inputs. The 9-speed automatic transmission fires off zippy shifts to access more power, too.

What the XT4 is not is sporty, despite Cadillac’s desire to position it as such. The standard 18-inch wheels furnish the best ride thanks to their tall sidewalls. Optional 20-inch wheels on higher-end models are stiffer. The Sport version offers adaptive dampers, which cancel out the thrum of the 20s, though.

The XT4’s brakes have an artificial feel, which further dents its performance credentials.

Space is at a premium, though comfy seats and nice materials elevate the Cadillac XT4.

The smallest Cadillac SUV may not be particularly special inside, but it has good seats up front and decent cargo room. It’s a 7 out of 10.

Standard synthetic leather doesn’t cost too much to upgrade to real hides, though the optional massaging seats are fairly expensive. Up front, look for north of 44 inches of legroom. Rear-seat riders will find enough space for their feet, but three abreast is a tight squeeze for even short jaunts.

The cabin itself has plenty of soft-touch materials, too.

Out back, the cargo area expands to about 50 cubic feet of storage once you’ve folded the second-row seatbacks.

The 2024 Cadillac XT4 makes more sense with less spend.

Don’t dig too deep into the options list and the 2024 Cadillac XT4 can be a reasonable value. It’s a 7 on the TCC scale thanks to its standard fare including synthetic seats with power adjustment up front, a huge 33.0-inch LED display with wireless smartphone mirroring, a power tailgate, and a decent 4/year-50,000-mile warranty with a free service visit.

Which Cadillac XT4 should I buy?

The base Luxury trim is good enough for us, but we’d still splurge for heated seats and steering wheel, leather upholstery, and maybe green paint. (It’s a nice hue for $625.) That still keeps an all-wheel-drive XT4 south of $44,000.

How much is a fully loaded Cadillac XT4?

Load up an XT4 Sport with 20-inch wheels, cooled and massaging front seats, adaptive cruise control, and a few other niceties, and its price tag balloons to $55,000.

The 2024 Cadillac XT4 offers just OK fuel economy.

Is the Cadillac XT4 good on gas?

It’s fine, but many competitors can top 30 mpg on the highway. On the TCC scale, the 2024 XT4 nets a 3 for fuel economy.

Front-drive versions are estimated at 24 mpg city, 29 highway, 26 combined. Dial each number back by 1 mpg and you have the all-wheel-drive version.
