Lexus promises that a handful of suspension revisions will make the LC even better to drive for the new year. An optional performance package gains a limited-slip differential and uprated brakes, too.
The LC comes in coupe and roadster forms, though the droptop lacks the hybrid engine option. Few new vehicles wear lines as daring as those fitted to the LC, from its narrow spindle-type grille up front to myriad delicate slits and slices that work their way from its headlights to its rear end. The LC is prettier as a coupe, which shows off its unusual roofline. Inside, the cabin straddles a balance between simple and sporty, with toggle switches and huge swathes of color-matched leather trim. It’s as pretty to behold as it is to smell, if you like that freshly-tanned leather scent.
The LC 500 pushes 471 hp to the rear wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox for thrilling acceleration and the aural delight of a naturally aspirated V-8. The LC 500h offers vastly better fuel economy and decent performance, though it’s not quite as engaging.
LC 500s slurp down fuel at a rate of 19 mpg combined. The hybrid checks in at 29 mpg combined, which is tops among performance coupes.
Even though it weighs about 4,500 pounds, the LC is light on its feet. This year’s suspension tweaks may make things even better—or so we can hope. We’re not as impressed with the optional rear-wheel steering system, though, so spend your money on fancy paint and upholstery instead.
Inside, look for a 10.3-inch display with a clunky interface—though at least Lexus makes active safety tech standard across the board here where some rivals charge extra.

The LC 500 runs $94,600 to start, while the LC 500h tacks on $6,000 more. Convertibles run $102,650.
An LC 500 coupe painted Nori Green Pearl with the Sport package, head-up display, and Mark Levinson audio will set you back $101,730, not that we’ve endlessly configured one. Lexus also offers a Bespoke Build program for deep-pocketed shoppers booking for something less off-the-shelf.
